Teacher In-Services

To help schools become a part of this exciting program, the New York State History Day staff is offering a variety of programs that will support the establishment and growth of History Day at your school. We are pleased to announce two new Teacher In-Services for the 2006-2007 school year:

History Day at Your School: The School Site Team Approach
Administrators, teachers, media specialists are encouraged to attend this informative workshop or in-service that explains why History Day can bolster your established curriculum with hands-on student learning that meets a host of New York State Learning Standards, and how using a school site team will make this an easy program to implement.

History Day in the Classroom: Come Make History with Us!
Gather the classroom tools you need for a successful History Day through this hands-on workshop or in-service. Let us provide you with curriculum materials, graphic organizers, assessment tools, and on-line resources that tie History Day directly to New York State Learning Standards.

So what is "Research" anyway?
Students often have difficulty researching a topic for understanding. In this hands-on workshop or in-service, teachers use a variety of resources that will help students identify quality research questions, navigate primary and secondary resources, and find worthwhile tools in your area.
